We have a Kapa Haka group that meets each Friday and is open to anyone who would like to join.
We learn waiata, haka and how to perform for audiences. At any special event at school we are a group that help lead these, for example powhiri and poroporoaki.
At CTS we are a Green Gold Enviroschool and are very proud of that. We have amazing grounds full of trees, fruit, edible gardens, composting and more.
Our enviro group is currently looking at eradicating introduced pest species in and around our school. The CTS Trappers are doing some great work here which is good not only for our kura but also the surrounding community.
Every year the Year 6 students at CTS have an opportunity to apply to become Student Leaders.
Students need to show leadership/leadership potential, enthusiasm, motivation, creative ideas for activities, time management, maintain the school RISE values and want to expand their own horizons.
At CTS we are incredibly lucky to have an edible garden. Each class has an area that they are in charge of and they work with Leonora to keep it going.
As part of the gardens, our students learn how to cultivate seeds, plant seeds, plant plants, maintain their garden and harvest.
